PIC OF THE WEEK:
This week’s "Pic of the Week" was shared with us by Lee Lapell, a proud dad who loves hunting with his family. Lee joined his son, Solomon, in a new area and it paid off with a great Vermont buck. The first day in the new hot spot, Lee's son Jonathan spotted a buck chasing a doe at last light but couldn’t get a shot. Fast forward to day three. Even though raining, Lee and Solomon were up on the mountain before daylight. The wind had changed so they had to switch spots. The two had no more gotten comfortable when they heard a deer going by in the dark, still too early to shoot. At about 7:05 Lee saw Solomon’s gun come to his shoulder. Lee couldn't see what Solomon was looking at but it didn’t really matter because Solomon was on it! Lee figured Solomon’s Army reflexes took over when he made an awesome shot as the buck crested the ridge. Tracking was short; the buck was taken with a perfect heart shot. Solomon took his beauty of a buck using an old Savage 30-30 with a 170 grain bullet. Congratulations on a great father and son hunt!
